Penciljam is a group-based, on-location sketching community that meets on weekends to sketch their local neighbourhoods.

art is for everyone

What is Citizen Art?

Citizen Art is a creative practice that bridges art and social engagement, shifting the focus from the artist as a solitary creator to a collaborative process involving individuals and communities.

Citizen Art invites people to actively contribute their voices, experiences, and creativity to the artistic process.

By doing so, Citizen Art transforms public spaces, engages in critical conversations, and creates opportunities for people from all walks of life to connect and reflect through shared creative experiences.

We Collaborate with Change Makers

Over the years, we have collaborated with key institutions that champion art and culture to spark citizen art initiatives.

What we do at nabachika foundation

build communities for citizen art

The foundation was set up to promote Citizen Art as a movement that encourages visual self-expression and creative practice in our communities.

Over the past 15 years, our flagship project, Penciljam has conducted over 1300 community drawing sessions.

This grassroots approach to art-making empowers people to become active creators rather than passive consumers of visual culture.

Taking Art to Workplaces

Art holds immense potential in workplaces. It reduces stress, inspires fresh perspectives, and cultivates a deeper sense of connection and inclusivity,  enhancing collaboration.

Our Project, Work from Art takes Art to Workplaces, providing Employee Engagement, Team Building and Leadership Development Sessions as seen through the prism of Art.

Project support network for Artists

How may Citizen Artists take their art projects into the next level? What types of support do they need to ensure their projects move out of the confines of personal work and into public facing spaces?

The Trellis Program is designed to help citizen artists plan and execute complicated projects, ensuring that they have an impact on the world at large.

Trellis is a peer-based support network that handholds artists through the process of taking projects from an Idea stage to completion.

15 years of impact, and counting...

For a decade and a half, The Nabachika Foundation has developed Art based programs to benefit Early Childhood Learning, Special Needs Interventions, Citizen Art Communities and Resilience in Organisations, using Art as a bridge.

Our website is currently undergoing an overhaul, and we are excited to share our programs and the impact that we have created over the years. Please bookmark this site and visit us again soon.
